Shaun White B.Pod (Hons).
Shaun is the director of Active Podiatry and started the business in 2008. He graduated with a Bachelor of Podiatry with honours from Latrobe University in 2001. He has a special interest in Sports Podiatry and has had a research article on Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (Shin splints) published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. His other specialist area is Diabetic Foot Care having worked in three specialist Diabetic Foot Clinics at Austin Health, Manchester (UK) and locally at Bendigo Health. Outside of work Shaun is currently chasing PB's in the Marathon. Shaun has currently competed in 4 Marathons in Australia and abroad, and he recently completed the Ballarat Marathon in April 2024 in a time of 2hrs 41mins. He still actively participates in a number of sports; basketball and cycling, after finishing up at Golden Sqaure Football Club and more recently Sandhurst Hockey Club, When not playing sport himself he enjoys spending time with his three kids and following their sporting pursuits! In addition to managing his own practice, Active Podiatry, Shaun has been involved in teaching undergraduate podiatry students from La Trobe University and is a current member of the Australian Podiatry Association as well as the AAPSM (Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine) . Jessica Southon Ba. Health Sci/Ma. Podiatric Practice (Hons)
Jess graduated from La Trobe University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Masters of Podiatry with Honours. As part of Jess’s honours thesis, she was part of a team of investigators researching the effect of exercise on diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and has had her research published in an international medical journal in 2022, which can be viewed here: https://www.mdpi.com/1648-9144/58/1/59 Jess has worked at Active Podiatry since graduating, and works at both the Echuca and Bendigo Clinics. Jess has also had experience working in the public sector at Castlemaine Health, where she specialised in children’s early intervention and complex foot pain. Jess is a current member of the Australian Podiatry Association (APODA). Jess was also a finalist in the 2024 Victorian Rural Health Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Allied Health. In Jess’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and two whippets. She is also an avid Geelong Cats supporter. Special Interests: Children’s Podiatry, Foot Pain, Ingrown Toenails, Diabetes Foot Care & SWIFT Wart Therapy. |
Rachel Fry B.Pod
Rachel graduated from LaTrobe University in 1998 and has worked for over 25 years in both public health and private Podiatry.
Rachel has gone on to study her graduate certificate in diabetes education and graduate diploma in Primary Health Care. During this time Rachel has also been involved in the management of aged care and respite programs which has led to her passion for supporting older people. “I have the privilege of working with the older generation. There is so much to be learnt through their life stories".
Connecting with people I support allows us to work together to help keep people’s feet healthy and keeping people active and socially connected.
Rachel’s spare time is filled with the fun of her children and her time out includes a good book, sewing and connecting with friends.

Leah Wendler B.Pod
Leah graduated with a Bachelor of Podiatry from La Trobe University in 2006 and has worked in private practices throughout Melbourne.
Leah is knowledgeable in all aspects of podiatry with a special interest in Sports Podiatry, helping people overcome foot and ankle conditions. Thus, allowing people to get back to being active/sport. Leah is a member of Apoda (Australian Podiatry Association) and SEPA (Sports and Exercise Podiatry Australia).
With two young twin boys that are a part of the Bendigo Braves basketball teams, this involvement has provided insight and inspiration into developing and improving her knowledge of paediatrics and Sports Medicine. She considers her podiatry practice stemming from a wholistic, evidence-based perspective and is always continuing her studies in Sports and movement studies.
Outside of work Leah enjoys playing basketball with the twins, art, reading and keeping fit by going to the gym.
Special interests: Sports Podiatry, biomechanics, strength and power training, orthotics, lower limb pathomechanics and rehabilitation of the knee, foot and ankle.
