Heel Pain (Heel Spur & Plantar Fasciitis)
Do you suffer from the following symptoms?
1. Heel or arch pain?
2. Pain in your heel when you first get out of the bed in the morning?
3. Pain in your heel or arch with walking or running?
4. Pain in your heel/arch when you stand after sitting for a period of time?
If you have these symptoms then you may be experiecing pain caused from plantar fasciitis / heel spurs.
The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the arch of the foot that runs from the heel to the ball of the foot. Excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, usually due to over-pronation (flat feet), an excessively high arch, increased body weight, overtraining or poor footwear choices can cause inflammation and pain in either the heel and/or arch.
The Podiatrist's at Active Podiatry understand the frustration of not being able to exercise or undertake normal daily activities due to heel pain. Heel pain is a debilitating condition and if it is left untreated it can quickly result in prolonged pain that won't go away. We have developed treatment regime that helps to reduce symptoms and get you back on track/pain free as soon as possible.
Our treatment plan combines the latest research as well as our extensive experience in treating this common cause of foot pain. Our aim
is to treat the condition conservatively without the need of surgery. This can include but is not limited to advice on footwear, activity modification,
stretching, taping, orthotics (soft/hard), dry needling, referral for injection therapy and sometimes immobilisation in a Camwalker (moon boot).
