ORTHOTICS & BIOMECHANICS
Biomechanics is an important part of a Podiatristsof clinical practice as we assess both walking and running gait and posture, looking for weaknesses or imbalances that may be creating or contributing to a variety of lower limb and foot symptoms.
At Active Podiatry, we use computerised video gait analysis to allow an accurate observation of your walking or running gait. By observing this we can identify where your issues are arising from and therefore design treatment plans to resolve your problem.
There are a large range of treatments available including footwear recommendations, taping, stretching, exercises and orthoses. Orthoses are prescribed by Podiatrists to help improve your foot and lower limb biomechanics.
At Active Podiaty we are able to prescribe and design orthoses that fit your shoes and are comfortable to wear. Both pre-fabricated (off the shelf) and custom made orthotics can be designed. Using our expert knowledge we can tailor an orthotic to meet your requirements, using the appropriate type of orthotic materials such as soft & hard or flexible & rigid materials.
The can be designed to fit most types or footwear including running shoes or women's dress shoes. Your podiatrist will discuss with you your individual requirements to ensure the best possible outcomes.
